MedicalVetting.com Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of projects do you work on?
I vet any kind of health-related material, from short articles to full-length books. I work on both conventional medical manuscripts as well as ones with a more holistic or integrative perspective.

How much do you charge?
My fee is depends on the project. Please write us and tell us what you're working on and we can figure out the cost.  All payments must be received before the final edits are returned to you.

How many pages can you edit per hour?
This very much depends on the project. Assuming a normally formatted page (standard margins, size 12 font, double spaced), I can usually edit 6-10 pages per hour. Work that is less finished, highly technical or in need of organizational help may take longer.

Please describe the nuts and bolts of how we would work together?
I generally ask manuscripts be submitted via email in MS Word or a compatible program. After I've worked on it, I'll email the document with my editing suggestions entered as "tracked changes," which you can either accept or reject one at a time. I can also work by hand writing corrections on your double-spaced printed pages, if you prefer, which I would mail back to you. Some people prefer to go over my editing suggestions by phone or via Skype, which allows for the possibility to ask questions and work through some changes together.

Do you fact check as you are editing?
If I come across a medical statement that strikes as possibly incorrect, I'll research it to try to verify its accuracy. I don't try to verify every assertion, as this would be too time consuming, yet I'm able to pick up most errors this way.

Do you do multiple rounds of editing on books and articles?
Yes, I can do this, but each additional round costs extra (though I can generally do re-edits more quickly than the first time around).

What forms of payment do you accept?
At this time, I only accept PayPal (via my email MedicalVetting@gmail.com).

Do you give refunds?
I do not give refunds on work I've already done. If you change your mind in the middle of a longer project and do not wish to continue, I would refund anything you've paid for that hasn't yet been done.

Do you specialize in integrative medicine projects?
Although my own work in recent years has been in yoga therapy and the related field of Ayurvedic medicine, I practiced conventional internal medicine in the Boston area for more than a decade, keep up on modern medical developments, and feel equally comfortable tackling conventional medicine projects.
